On-Site Testing

C & I Testing Labs, Inc. located adjacent to KT Bolt provides onsite accredited and FQA compliant fastener testing services to facilitate rapid shipment of your order.

The testing laboratory has the capability of tensile testing full-size fasteners up to 480k lbs along with training and equipment for hardness and rotational capacity. The laboratory tests to major consensus standards and holds memberships in the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) and the American Society of Metallurgists (ASM)

The laboratory can provide coating thickness and adhesion testing for galvanized product and dimensional verification per ANSI/ASME requirements. Our document control system provides the fastest access for your certifications when you need them. Through exclusive arrangements K-T Bolt customers can 'close the loop' on their traceability needs through one certification.

Our testing labs are fully accredited and being on site, allows us to offer rapid turn around time.

Hot Dip Galvanizing

KT Bolt has its own in house Hot Dip Galvanizing facility. Our Galvanizing process produces a coating which is bonded metallurgical to the steel. No other coating process has this feature and as a result galvanized steel has by far the greatest resistance to mechanical damage during handling, storage, transport and erection - an important factor where steelwork is to be shipped across the world.

Well-documented years of experience have improved the benefits of hot dip galvanizing protection. At least 20 to 40 years are commonplace in industrial and marine environments, 50 to 100 years in less aggressive atmospheres.

Low initial cost and long life make galvanizing the most versatile and economic way of protecting steel for long periods.

Hot Dip Galvanzing offers some key features, such as, coating toughness, long life and the lowest lifetime cost,

Electro Polishing produces a bright shiny surface and enhances the corrosion resistance of stainless steel fasteners by eliminating embedded surface contaminants which can cause sub-surface corrosion.

When a design requires a metal finish that demands a smoothness that cannot be obtained by mechanical means, electro-polishing is the answer. A surface can generally be improved to approximately one half of the initial surface measurement. Some surfaces can be obtained that become non-participating surfaces, i.e. so smooth, particles cannot be entrapped and adhere to the metal. The micro inch measurement can be taken to the single digit level.

The process is so refined that removal of material can be controlled within .0001" per-surface. The reworked surface has an enhancement of it's micro-inch measurement. The process de-scales the surface, removing oxides and impurities, and leaves a sterile and passive finish.

The electro-chemical machining capabilities of electro-polishing gives the designer the assurance that the tolerances of the final machined part can be accomplished. With the capability of controlling surface removal of .0001 inch per surface, most tolerances can be maintained. The deburring of machined components is easily accomplished by electro-polishing since the protrusions are the first attacked, they are burned away to produce a smooth uniform surface.

Some of the key benefits of Electropolishing include, corrosion resistance, removal of oxides and impurities and it provides a sterile and passive finish that is also ultra smooth.
